Milan FMC is located in the beautiful town of Milan, Michigan (south of Ann Arbor off US-23 at Exit 27).  We are a warm and welcoming congregation with a rich history dating back to the 1870’s.  But we are anything but stuck in the past!  Our worship services are alive with contemporary music, laughter, relevant messages and the presence of God!  We invite you to come on Sunday morning at either 9:30 or 11:00 and see what we’re all about!  Below, you’ll find a little of what we believe and who we are — and be sure to check out the answer to the Burning Question at the bottom!  See you Sunday!
about
 We Worship God

Milan FMC is a church that exists to worship God and journey with people in relationship with Jesus Christ as revealed in the foundation of our faith, the Bible.  We believe in one God, manifesting Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We believe that Jesus was fully God and fully human, and that He lived a sinless life on earth before dying on the cross to atone for the sins of mankind, and then rising from the dead.  By believing on what He has done and receiving Him into our life as Lord and Savior, we have the incredible privilege of being adopted into the family of God and sharing in the hope and joy of Heaven!

 We Welcome All

Milan FMC is a welcoming and growing faith community of people from all age-groups, socio-economic levels, ethnicities and backgrounds.  We come together to worship God and share our commonality as people who recognize the need to worship and be in relationship with our Lord and Savior.  We hold to the truth and tenets of the Bible for our daily lives, desiring to live in obedience to God’s Word.  We know that living this way in today’s world is not easy, so we encourage each other and hold each other accountable to hold out and hold up the love and grace of God to a hurting world.

We Love Kids!

Milan FMC is a place that loves kids and teens and is dedicated to providing a safe and fun environment where they can learn about the Christian faith, know that they are loved by God, and grow in their knowledge of Him.  We want our young people to not just be “watchers” but also “doers”, so we give them many opportunities through things like mission and service projects (such as Operation Christmas Child and many more) to put their faith into practice to bless others and show them the love of God.  Most of all, our church is a safe place for kids and teens to find out how much God loves them and grow in Jesus!

A Place For Worship

Our Sunday morning services are at 9:30 and 11:00 am.  The services are warm and welcoming and feature contemporary music, prayer, a kids’ time, and messages that convey timeless Biblical truth in dynamic and engaging ways.

How should you dress?  In whatever is comfortable!  We don’t much care what you look like on the outside, because we just want the light and love of Jesus to flood you inside!  And don’t forget to come a little early so you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with us before the service.  Our “Cup of Blessings” coffee station is open before and after each service.

And what about that pesky offering plate?  Well, if you’d like to give to help our church ministries continue and grow and the Kingdom of God to advance, that would be wonderful–but we certainly don’t demand that anyone give!  Money isn’t what we’re after when you come to our church.  What we are after is for you to feel welcome and free to experience God through our worship–and most of all, to know the radical amazing love and grace of the God who died to save you from your sins and give you a new life in Him!
A Community That Cares

The people of MFM excel in caring and helping each other along in our spiritual, emotional, and physical journey through this life that God has blessed us with!  We have Welcoming Ministries, Care Cluster Groups, Prayer Chain, GriefShare Ministry (for those who have lost loved ones in death), a Benevolent Fund to help those in need, and many other practical expressions of love and fellowship.  We strive to make sure everyone is connected into the life of our church at whatever level they are comfortable.  We hate it when people come to church, then get ignored or made to feel out-of-place.  That’s not what we do here!  So, we invite you to come and experience a deep fellowship and care for you and your family that may just blow you away!
An Active And Alive Church

Church shouldn’t be boring, and it shouldn’t be a place where people just sit around and gossip.  The church instead should be a lighthouse of hope, a work station of grace, and a teller of the Best Story Ever Told!  At MFM, we encourage all who can to participate in the life of our church and its ministries, reach out to the world around us with the Good News of Jesus, and live our daily lives in service and obedience to Him.  You’re going to find a ton of ways you can be involved, and we hope you will get connected and find a ministry that fits you (or even create your own!).  God’s Church functions best when every part of it does all they can to bring hope and healing to a hurting world.  We invite you to join us on this great adventure!

Just what is a Free Methodist anyway?

First, a short history lesson:  Free Methodism was founded back in 1860 under an apple tree in Pekin, New York, by a group of pastors of what was then the Methodist Episcopal Church.  That church would later merge with other Methodist denominations to form the United Methodist Church.  But back in 1860, there was concern on the part of some that the ME Church had drifted from its Biblical and Wesleyan roots (John Wesley was the founder of Methodism back in the 1720s).  The church had become a place where–if you wanted a good seat–you actually had to pay to rent a pew!  The church had also become very legalistic and ritualistic, stifling the free expression of worship.  Then there was the issue of slavery.  The ME Church allowed its members to own slaves.  So, a group of pastors, led by B.T. Roberts, attempted to change the ME Church from the inside out, trying to right the wrongs and return the church back to a more Biblical and compassionate stance.  As a result, they were excommunicated from the church!  So, these men and several other like-minded individuals met in Pekin, New York under that apple tree and formed the Free Methodist Church on August 23, 1860–dedicated to free pews, free worship, free men and women, and a freedom to live holy lives in obedience to the Bible.

Today, the Free Methodist Church has grown to almost 1 million members in virtually every country around the globe.  Our mission is simple: to love God, love people, and make disciples.  We are a missions-minded people, as evidenced by the fact that there are more Free Methodists in overseas countries than in the USA–thanks largely to the efforts of dedicated missionaries that spread the message of the Gospel.  We are a compassionate people, getting involved in major humanitarian efforts to free slaves, sponsor hungry and orphaned children, provide for the sick, and feed and clothe those in poverty, as well as bring the message of hope and salvation through Jesus to all!

And in this current day and age of uncertainty, we stand rock-solid on the truths of the Bible.  We are a conservative, evangelical denomination, holiness-minded and looking forward to Heaven while we work to bring the Gospel to the world.  We invite you to join with us and see what God is doing through the Free Methodist Church!
